Let me begin by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from dealing with a program. My family was not aware of the Counter-dependency available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the correct choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Choosing the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I had been doing my drug of preference daily at the expense of everything and everyone around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with our kids. On your addiction you don’t genuinely have friends, you may have your partying buddies and when a crisis arises in your own life these are no where available. Real friends walk with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and that i drank almost everyday. From the moment I made the selection to stop the addiction cycle within my life, it became one step at any given time and it was hard.
When I began emerging from my addictive lifestyle what I seen in its wake was a lot of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships with no real idea the things i was going to do with the remainder of my well being. I truly began one step at the same time then one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and thru that grieving process happens when I picked to permit God into help me. It took many years but healing came, direction for my life came and my marriage flourished. I completed Secondary School, graduated from College and also have started my very own business, which now features a business which allows me to work from home by way of a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. After the real cause of the addiction is identified and worked through in that case your main reason to your addiction is not a factor. For many who remain addicts throughout their lives this is due to they have not identified their root cause, usually are not ready to get through their issues and allow healing to occur. Many wish to remain a victim of the circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold to them when they would forget about their victim mentality. Building a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing happened.
My desire for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through constructing a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and I discovered a sense of purpose for my well being. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a company owner). My path to recovery might have taken a much different route whenever we had known regarding the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not only to the addicts but to there families also.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a program for addiction recovery would have been a fantastic advantage to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools which you can use throughout your daily life for many situations which you will face. Programs also offer you the chance to get out of your familiar surroundings which aides within your recovery process. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is actually a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as being a Development Director and after that as being a Program Director. While this is a great program there were some additional steps which i desired to offer those seeking help, so my hubby and I opened our own recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for approximately annually and we dealt with them in depth, it was just about the most rewarding experience I have had in my life.
We closed this system because we knew it was time to maneuver in a different direction with our lives, but we have been always contacting those searching for help themselves or a family member looking for help for one which they love. I am getting ready to start performing some volunteer employ a program inside our area. Trying to help addicts overcome their addiction is quite rewarding work in fact it is a thing that I am going to be part of for the remainder of my well being in one method or another.
