The warm, inviting atmosphere and family-focused attitude found in every Pappas restaurant started well prior to the Pappas brothers opened their first restaurant in 1976. All of it began using their legendary grandfather, H.D. Pappas. He left Greece in 1897 and traveled to America to pursue his dreams. He brought with him a passion for quality and repair that took over as the benchmark of his success because he opened restaurants throughout Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas. It had been this same dedication to quality and repair that H.D. passed as a result of his sons and grandsons. His sons, Pete and Jim, selected a different path than their father and entered the restaurant equipment and offer business. They opened Pappas Refrigeration in 1945. It wasn’t until 1976, when Jim’s sons, Chris and Harris, following inside their grandfather’s footsteps opened their first restaurant, bringing the family’s American dream full circle.
One thing which make Pappas Restaurants different from other restaurant companies is the fact Pappas not only run our restaurants to feed our loyal Guests day in and day trip, we own and drive the trucks that provide you with the freshest meats and seafood to our own restaurants each day. We employ the electricians who maintain the lights on as well as the kitchens humming. We even make our very own chairs for your dining room floor!

Harris and Chris still lead the chain of Pappas restaurants with more than 90 locations in seven states, throughout Texas, along with locations in New Mexico, Ohio, Georgia, Illinois, Arizona and Colorado. Located in Houston, the still privately-owned and operated business is an extremely respected leader in the business nationwide.
