The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 places a duty on organisations to ensure that contractors are competent to carry out the tasks required.
In any client/contractor relationship, both parties have duties under health and safety law and this also applies to any sub-contractor involved. These could include cleaners, maintenance workers, construction, etc.
